CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT: ONE SUBJECT AT A TIME BILL MUST BE SUPPORTED & PASSED!

TELL CONGRESS TO
SUPPORT HJR 40!

Members of Congress have been manipulating the bill process for years and America now has a combined federal debt totaling $61.4 trillion!

This has come to pass because Congressmen and Senators are allowed to tack massive amounts of amendments on unrelated subjects to appropriations bills, so we end up with monstrosities like last year's so-called "CRomnibus." The CRomnibus was a Continuing Resolution/omnibus bill that was 1,600 pages long and which funded everything from amnesty for illegal aliens to Obamacare and funding for ISIS-affiliated terrorists overseas.

No one read that bill. No one can tell you in one sentence what the subject of that bill was. Far too often, bills are now passed by Congress and the American people do not find out what was in them until weeks after the bill passed! We should call it the Pelosi Prerogative!

Rep. Tom Marino (R-PA) has proposed a constitutional amendment that will end this practice.

Tell Congress to pass HJR 40!

HJR 40 is called the 'One Subject at a Time' Bill and it does exactly what it says! You must tell the House Judiciary Committee to pass this resolution!

Why should you care about this issue?

The practice of Congress stuffing item after item into unrelated bills is a big reason why America is choking under a massive national debt.

This is morally inexcusable!

Congress is stealing from future generations and they will be forced to pay back debts that they never approved or consented to. Every American citizen -- including all of your children and grandchildren -- now "owes" the federal government $191,000 and counting.

Two-faced Members of Congress -- and you know most of their names, so we will not bother repeating them here -- insert objectionable things like funding for illegal alien amnesty into a must-pass bill.

Then, after they violate the very Constitution they were elected to defend, they proclaim, "I had to pass the bill! Otherwise terrorists would have been able to blow up the buses in your city!"

HJR 40 would limit every bill in Congress to ONE SUBJECT; the title must be easily understood in plain English; and the subject should be descriptively titled.

If this constitutional amendment is eventually passed, it would prevent so much of the smoke and mirrors and unconstitutional provisions that Congress is able to pass year after year.

Tell Congress to pass the 'One Subject at a Time' Bill! We must pass this constitutional amendment to put the brakes on our national debt before America is fully bankrupted by our own Congress!

Plain and simple speech allows no room for deception. If Congress wants to pass any bill, it should be passed on its own merits. This will allow the American people to see exactly how our Representatives and Senators vote on every issue without any room for cowardly excuses!

As Jesus put it, "And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats." (Matthew 25:32)

As an explanation, if Congress wanted to fund Obama's amnesty for illegal aliens, they should attempt to pass amnesty funding on its own merits, with nothing else attached to it. This practice would separate the true Americans (the sheep) from the special interest politicians (the goats) in a hurry!

We are thankful that Rep. Tom Marino is looking at big fixes for the problems in Congress such as this and he has earned our support in future elections. We urge you to support him as well!

Send your FaxGrams to Congress today and tell them to pass HJR 40! It is time to revolutionize the way Congress does business in the name of the American people and this bill will do it!

Bob Goodlatte
2309 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Chairman Goodlatte:

How can the American people give their consent to a bill that is thousands of pages in length and crammed full of unrelated subjects, and often voted on in a matter of hours after it is introduced in Congress?

Simply put, we cannot and do not give our consent to many of the laws that Congress if forcing on us through this practice.

Last year's so-called "CRomnibus" bill, for example, contained funding fighting the Ebola virus, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, funding for Obama's amnesty for illegal aliens, funding for Obamacare, funding for the Environmental Protection Agency, defense spending and mandating the use of anthracite coal in the Army and Air Force Barracks in Kaiserslautern, Germany. To this day, no one can explain the purpose of that bill!

Too often, Congress uses massive multi-subject bills such as this as a shield for unconscionable and unconstitutional actions. The total US government debt now stands at $61.4 trillion.

I urge you to support and pass HJR 40, the "One Subject at a Time" bill, to end this deceptive practice of stuffing bills full of pork and unrelated subjects. Every bill should be subject to debate and should pass or fail on its own merits.

So long as the current practice continues, Congress is governing without the consent of the governed. This may work for a time, but eventually the "governed" will weary of this practice and I believe you will not like the outcome of the American people's response to what you are doing to our country.

Pass HJR 40 immediately!
