PAUL RYAN AGENDA: REVIVE EARMARKS, PORK BARREL SPENDING!

Ban The Pigs -
Tell Congress to Vote NO
On Earmarks Revival!

Three members of Speaker Paul Ryan's House leadership team have submitted a rule amendment that would start to revive congressional earmarks1 -- the bane of fiscal conservatism that allows a Member of Congress to add an amendment to piece of legislation for costly and unnecessary projects.

Remember the "Bridge to Nowhere" in Alaska? Or the "hippie museum" in Woodstock, New York, earmarked by then-Senator Hillary Clinton?

The earmarks that were out of control from 2000 through 2010 are coming back if we do not defeat this amendment RIGHT NOW!

Send Personalized Letters (FaxGrams) to Congress immediately to demand a "No" vote on the amendment to revive congressional pork barrel earmarks!

You can also help by calling the congressional offices and field offices of Paul Ryan's three lieutenants who are pushing this earmark revival amendment:

Anniston, AL office: (256) 236-5655

Congress went absolutely bonkers with unconstitutional earmarks during the Bush administration. Almost 14,000 earmarks were attached to bills in 2005! Hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars are wasted by earmarks.

Earmarks were finally banned in 2011 when the Tea Party victories gave Republicans control of the House. And now House Republicans under Paul Ryan are trying to bring the earmarks back!

Tell Congress to vote NO on the rule amendment to bring back congressional earmarks! Use the form on this page to send your FaxGrams immediately!

Members of Congress who support these disastrous pork-barrel earmarks are like the unqualified elders described in Titus 1:16: "They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work."

Earmarks are nothing more than sneaky kickbacks, bribes and vote-buying schemes. Members of Congress don't even know when they are voting on earmarks because they are tucked away in 5,000-page unrelated defense bills!

Former Rep. Duke Cunningham (R-CA) actually went to prison for SELLING earmarks to lobbyists! The only way to defend against this practice and protect the taxpayers' money is by keeping the earmark ban in place.

Demand a NO vote on the amendment to bring back congressional earmarks today!

Dear Chairman Meadows:

An amendment to the House rules being considered would lift the 2011 ban on congressional earmarks. The American people threw the Democrats out of power in the House of Representatives, in part, because the earmarking process was such a fiasco. Bringing earmarks back under a Republican-led Congress, even in a limited capacity, will eventually lead to the same problems which the earmark ban has curbed.

There were almost 14,000 earmarks attached to legislation in 2005. This is a ridiculous amount of pork! It is unconstitutional and the earmarking process prevents the Members of Congress from even knowing what they're voting on. Tucking infrastructure projects and kickbacks into unrelated appropriations bills leads to confusion at best, and runaway spending once every member succumbs to human nature and starts creating their own earmarks.

In case you have forgotten, Rep. Duke Cunningham went to prison for selling earmarks to lobbyists. The earmarking process was rife with political kickbacks, bribery and vote-buying schemes. Curiously, every member of Congress railed against earmarks... just not their OWN earmarks, because those were important! Earmarks are widely opposed by Americans of all political stripes and I question the motives of anyone who would seek to revive them.

The best course of action is to keep the 2011 ban on congressional earmarks in place. I demand that you vote NO on any amendment to lift the ban on earmarks. The American people insist on transparency in government as well as fiscal conservatism with the taxpayers' money. Keep the earmarks ban in place!
