DRUDGE REPORT CYBER-ATTACK - INTERNET SECURITY MUST BE PROTECTED!

Tell Congress:
Protect the "Internet of Things"
From Cyber-Attack!

The Drudge Report news website was taken offline twice in the past week by cyber attacks that exploited "smart" devices including household appliances like refrigerators that are needlessly and pointlessly connected to the internet.1

Security experts warn that unless steps are taken to protect what are now commonplace household devices from exploitation like this, America will be in store for massive cyber attacks that could shut down the entire internet and cause untold harm to you and your family.

Tell Congress to pass new legislation we are proposing to protect America's cyber security! Use the form on this page to select a program and contact as many Members of Congress as you can!

The Drudge Report was taken offline by two separate Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks - one on December 30th and another on January 3rd.2

As more household appliances are needlessly connected to the internet - the so-called "Internet of Things" explained in the video above, the potential for a massive cyber attack grows exponentially.

A DDOS attack simply pings a website like the Drudge Report over and over again using the computer chip in a "smart" refrigerator. Call me old-fashioned, but I can remember a time in America when refrigerators could keep things cold without requiring a WiFi signal!

These connected devices are largely pointless and open America up to a massive attack that security experts warn could shut down the internet and cause global stock market collapses.

Here is another example: Imagine that a terrorist group is able to set off a dirty bomb in a crowded city AND they are able to shut down the traffic lights for 20 minutes. Untold loss of life and chaos could be caused by our refrigerators!

This serious threat is not even on Congress' radar right now but the attacks on the Drudge Report prove that we must take this seriously and we must force Congress to take it seriously!

As Proverbs 14:6 states, "The prudent man foresees danger and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished."

Please help us sound the alarm with Congress on this issue and avoid an entirely preventable catastrophe!

We are calling on Congress to adopt a simple, non-invasive piece of legislation requiring that manufacturers do not place needlessly expansive additions in appliances.

Do our refrigerators really need to be connected to the internet? No!

Use the form on this page to contact Congress today and demand that America be protected from this cyber threat!

INCREASE YOUR IMPACT:

After sending your FaxGrams, contact your Senators and Representative at 202-224-3121. Tell them to support legislation that will prevent cyber attacks through so-called "smart devices" that are needlessly connected to the internet.

In addition, please share this message on your social media pages with your family members, friends and acquaintances:

Pray For US needs your financial support for our ministry operations in defense of America. If you are able, please give a contribution in addition to the cost of sending your FaxGrams today.

Dear Chairman McCaul:

The recent cyber attacks that shut down the Drudge Report highlight the need for a legislative fix to protect America from cyber attacks through the so-called "Internet of Things." Security experts warn that the Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack on the Drudge Report is a warning of a potentially much larger attack that could shut down the entire internet for an extended period of time. This could cause stock market crashes and untold economic harm to millions of people.

A DDOS attack is made even easier as companies are producing products that are needlessly expansive, such as refrigerators that are connected to the internet. These "smart" appliances are easily hackable and were used to shut down the Drudge Report as well as other websites in recent attacks. I am certain that companies can still manufacture refrigerators that keep eggs and butter cold without requiring a WiFi connection. Imagine if a terrorist group shuts down all of the traffic lights in a major city, all because our refrigerators and blenders were exploited in a DDOS attack on the transportation system.

What is especially disturbing is that these types of attacks are receiving a massive amount of publicity and yet Congress is doing nothing to protect the American people. It appears that Congress is waiting for the worst to happen before taking action. This is an easy problem to fix and you can do so without adopting a massive and intrusive law that endangers our freedoms.

I am asking you to support legislation that bans companies from manufacturing household appliances and other devices that are needlessly expansive. Refrigerators do not need internet connections if those connections are not secure! These cyber attacks should be a wakeup call to you and I hope that you will begin to take this threat with the seriousness that it deserves.
